A year of change and growth
2024 was a year of significant developments for the Child Destiny Foundation. Thanks to the support of our partners, donors, and dedicated teams, we were able to achieve numerous milestones and make a lasting impact on the lives of many children and families.
New opportunities for children with special needs
A highlight of the past year was the opening of our Sensory Room for children with multiple disabilities. This specially equipped room provides targeted therapy, promotes sensory perception, and improves the children's motor skills. This measure contributes significantly to improving their quality of life.
Mental health in focus
The Child Destiny Foundation's Mental Health Center continued to provide much-needed support to many families in 2024. Psychological counseling and therapeutic services helped children and parents better cope with challenging life situations and develop new perspectives. Access to mental healthcare is crucial for the well-being and development of children in challenging life situations.
Health care and rapid assistance in times of crisis
A valuable addition to our program was the introduction of a community health worker, who strengthens medical care in Kibera and supports families with essential health services. Furthermore, the importance of our crisis fund was clearly demonstrated after the floods in Kibera: Thanks to rapid assistance, affected families were able to receive urgently needed support.
sheltER – A safehouse for mothers and children in need
A special highlight was the launch of the sheltHER project. This initiative, launched by dedicated students from Innsbruck, aims to create a safe house for mothers and children in distress. This project impressively demonstrates the importance of shelters for women and children and how targeted support can create new prospects for the future.
Strengthening our teams in Kenya and Austria
To achieve long-term, sustainable change, we invested specifically in the further development of our teams in 2024. Through workshops and training, we were able to further improve collaboration between the teams in Kenya and Austria and strategically plan new projects for the coming years.
With all these successes, we look to the future with enthusiasm. In 2025, we hope to continue to advance our vision of a better future for children in Kibera together with you and give even more families hope and prospects.
